PreVis/ Animations

Originally starting out with Blender as a way to design in 3D. I gravitated naturally to bringing my objects to life beyond the storyboard. The same principles from storyboarding apply here but with a lot more scope.

From the objects and lighting, to the animations and camerawork, all must be balanced in order to best communicate the story and feeling to the audience.

Blade Runner Transport

PBR 3D model and animation of George Hulls Spinner Transport for Bladerunner 2047 with Bifrost generated steam effects.

The Chase

Full Animatic of a chase sequence from my own storyboard. Fulfilling a childhood dream of directing a car chase.  Here you can also find the storyboard comparison as well as a breakdown. Breakdowns are probably unnecessary here but I have always enjoyed watching them and really enjoy making them.

Live Fire

Giant robots are probably a bit cliché but I designed one for fun so thought I'd make a short animatic to bring him to life. I wanted to explore the Arnold Toon shader as I've seen cel shaded styles employed fantastically at studios such as Blur and Platige Image. I also used this as a way explore weight and scale to my camera work as well as handle lighting..

Ford Falcon RX Car Advert

Starting out as a modelling exercise, but grew into a fictitious advert after wanting a way to contextualise the camerawork and the lighting. Also a brakedown as they are a lot of fun to design, shoot and edit.

Nuclear Blast Simulation

A quick animatic of a computer simulation of a nuclear blast. Detailing the three stages. EMP, Shockwave and Main blast.

Idle/Walk/Run/Jump Test

This is just here for posterity really. It's my first rendered animation. Rig and Main model 'Blockout Dude' by Truong.
